Convert curious prospects to lifelong buyers
http://www.fundedstreamlinesponsoring.com/?ID=1607

I love to read. I received my love for reading from my mom. She used to (she passed away in 1999) read until late in the night and always encouraged me to read. Since my early years I belonged to a monthly book club and had to tell my mom the story afterwards. Come to think of it, my father also reads a lot. Many evenings we found find him asleep with a book on his face and the light still on. So I actually got my love for books from both my parents. When I was young I read anything I could lay my eyes on. Now I am a bit more particular. I mostly read Christian books, biographies and autobiographies.

I have just finished a book by Raymond Ackerman called- The Four Legs of the Table. In this book he expounds on his success and how he used this model of his business having 4 legs and on top of the four legs is a tabletop on which sits his customer. Consumer sovereignty is central to his success. He also has a picture and quote of Mahatma Gandhi in his book and this is what Mr Gandhi said about customers.

A customer is the most important visitor on our premises. He is not dependent on us. We are dependent on him. He is not an interruption on our work. He is the purpose of it.
He is not an outsider on our business. He is a part of it. We are not doing him a favour by serving him; He is doing us a favour by giving us an opportunity to do so.

If two such esteemed and successful people consider the customer as king, should we as internet business people not also have the same attitude?
My grandparents on both side (father and mother) was shopkeepers and so was my great grandfather from my mother’s side. I can remember how they wowed their clients into their shops with different kinds of `stoep` adverts every week and new specials and kind-hearted service. They where very successful in getting the clients from the sidewalk into the shops. Many a day my brother and I had to stand on the `stoep` and greet the customers, shout out the specials and present the children with sweets.

So if the successful shopkeepers of physical shops went through all the trouble to get feet inside their shops, then I think it is imperative for us as internet shopkeepers to get our `stoep` adverts in front of our customers, so as to get them into our shops( websites), and then to convert them from browsers or window-shoppers to buyers.

I can remember the nice romantic feeling when Patricia and I was courting and I took her window shopping(I had to do window shopping as I had very little money then!) and we dreamed of all the expensive goodies we where going to buy sometime in the future. But I can also remember the frustration I felt when people came into my video shops and just browsed, asked my recommendation about certain movies, and then after a while they left the shop empty handed. So I got them into the shop with the `stoep` adverts that my grandparents teached me but I had to learn how to convert them to regular buying customers after they entered the shop.

However when I started my internet endeavours, it was not always smooth sailing, and I believe that new entrants in the internet and network marketing industry need guidance, help, mentorship and encouragement (that is what Joseph means-motivator and encourager) so as to become competent and not only bring people to their website but also to convert those visitors into regular buyers.

So it is with this in mind that I started this blog. I figured out how to get customers into my shop and convert them to paying customers. I moved from the physical shops to doing business on the internet and on the internet you need to advertise to get people to visit your website (shop) and when they are inside you shop (website), your product or content need to be enticing, of good quality and provide in the need that the window-shopper (web browser) has, so as to convert that web browser to a paying customer.
I will bring you methods, techniques and tips picked up from my years in the business world and from other successful people doing business on the internet. I believe that we need to learn and gleam from others and use those methods that brought success to them and adapt it to our own unique circumstances.
So I hope that you will enjoy this blog and use it as part of you business arsenal.

Principals Of Decision Making

My daughter, Jodeè and son, Matthew are both teenages and come under peer pressure on a daily basis. I sat them down to give them some principals that I use when it comes to decision making as life can be hard if you make the wrong decisions. If hoever you have a set of principals it makes it easier to live with your decisions.

I have read these 4 principals in a book called Building & Maintaining an Always Positive Attitude. This book was a contribution by different leaders and I found this written by Dr Ron Jenson in chapter 3 under the heading- Living A Principled Centred Life.I have been using these principals for some time now and have added a fifth principal.

I believe that it can help you make better decisions and please share it with your family and especialy you children, if it resonates with you.

You have to ask yourself the following questions when you make a decision:

1) Is it legal? ( either in terms of the law, school or work rules or policy)

2) Is it fair? ( is it a win situation for the othe person )

3) How would it make you feel? ( if my decision was printed in the newspaper or my family new
about it )

4) Is it right? ( consider what I believe to be right or wrong according to my value system )

I also use my own principal in conjunction with the above:

5) Did I show mercy(kindness) and did I speak the truth? ( Proverbs 3 verse 3and 4 )
This is the bible verse that I build my life around.
This may sound like a lot to do to make a decision, but it is an excelent guide and it
will make you consistant in all your decisions. The more you practice it, the quicker the
process will be.
